Alina Nguyễn was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She is the proud daughter of Vietnamese immigrants. She earned her B.A. in English Literature and Asian American Studies from the California State University, Northridge, and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the California State University, Long Beach, where she was awarded the Gerald Locklin Writing Prize. Her risograph chapbook, Before There Were More Ghosts, was published by Tomorrow Today. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), where she was co-winner of the inaugural Louis Crompton Prize. Her research interests include Poetics, Ethnic Literature, Queer Theory, and Printmaking. For the English Department at UNL, she serves as Instructor of Record and Assistant Director of the Writing Center.
